I love it too! thats the tops I want to wear to hang out with and run errands and dress up with jeans and jewlery! give us more details please. also. I was thinking of doing it to one of my comfy fav old sweatshirts.....but I'm afraid to mess it up! I want to cut the neck more so it hangs off the shoulder....any ideas on how to go about it?
OMG - I love! More details plase - what size tee did you start with? how much did you cut off the bottom?
Thanks girls, you are the nicest! I had a lot of fun doing this. I forgot to take step-by-step pics... but anyway... I bough a medium size men's shirt. It's probably more like an S in american sizes - keep in mind that my size is S, so you should try to keep the proportions. I tried it on before cutting to figure out how long it was on me, and I cut only the doubling at the bottom. The fabric is pretty thin, so it rolls up nicely. Then I folded it in half and cut the neckline. I folded it, so that the neck would be simmetrical - then I tried it on and adjusted the cut. I pretty much tried it on before every new cut. I cut off one sleeve completely, then tied a thin piece of the leftover fabric to have the shirring at the shoulder. The other sleeve I cut from the armpit, at the bottom, to the end of the doubling, at the top.
I cut 3 slits at the left bottom, and passed another long thin piece of fabric though the holes, then tied it: this gives the shirring at the bottom. You can use fabrics of different colors or materials for the details: I wanted it to be a simple piece of dance wear, so kept it in the same color and fabric. Or you can sew colored small buttons around the neckline, or on one sleeve.
I should try to take a pic of the other two tees I made to use for ballet class... And take in between pics next time I work on this.
