I would check your local newspaper (online, it's more current), and msn jobs is suprisingly good and I've seen quite a few part-time positions on there. What city are you in?

it's a blessing in disguise for sure! do you have the time to to make and sell clothing? there are plenty of online consignment boutiques that you can hook up with to sell your goods. i've done a fair amount of research on them and would be happy to share my findings with you.

Does your school have a job web site? You can find nanny jobs and they usually pay at least $10 an hour. I have friends who are doing/have done that and it is so easy. They get paid to go to the pool with the kids and make lunch or go out to lunch, watch movies, etc, all of which is usually paid for by the parents. You get free time when the kids are sleeping or at a friend's house. Sometimes these jobs are part-time, so I would look into that. Or you could waitress but it takes a special person for that--I personally hated it, but it can be very good money, but a lot of nights. There is always retail too. You could also try hooking up with a local temp agency for office work, but in some cases that goes as low as $8 an hour.

You should totally make clothes lynnie!!! Or you could scout thrift shops for cool items, alter them, and sell on ebay! Making jewelry is also fun and could be profitable, a lot of stylethreaders do it.

Lynnie, if you want to make some good money and only want to work about 20 hours a week I highly suggest waitressing. You can make really good money and I honestly think it is a valuable skill to have especially if you plan on moving to a big city. When I moved to Chicago my first job paid practically nothing, my bills were piling up and I could barely afford to eat. I was able to get a bartending job at the hottest nightclub in town because of my previous experience. There were nights that I walked out of the club with $500 cash! That is more than I took home from my day job in one week. Not bad, huh?

Farrah- I have waitressed at 3 places, so I don't need more "experience" heh. I actually didn't really want to waitress ever again unless i HAD to, because i prefer working during the day and I still have waitressing nightmares where i mess up peoples orders and stuff. However, bartending sounds ok. Did you have to go to bartending school or anything to become a bartender? Did one of your restaurants promote you to a bartender so you got bartending experience?

I actually started off waitressing when I was 18 and I worked at several different restaurants. I got the bulk of my bartending experience at one of the local college bars. I started working there as a bartender when I was 21. I didn't go to school, I just taught myself. I have a really good memory so I just memorized all of the drinks and practiced pouring at home. Experience just makes you faster and faster.

i bartend 2 nights a week... i make a ton. i have a decent job, but i can't give it up. it's my shoe money :) also, i have a pretty fat savings account now too. i have been doing it since i was 21 too.

i didn't go to school either, i just did it like farrah.
