Should I paint an "accent wall" in my bedroom?
Permalink Closed

I don't really want to paint the entire room but am considering doing an "accent wall" against the main wall where my bed is.  Since I just moved in, I don't have anything on the walls but I'll probably get a headboard at some point and I have a canvas painting that might go aboce my head.  I wonder if it would look assymetrical or awkward???  The walls are a cream color (and the molding is) while the baseboards and ceiling are pure white.  Should I just leave it be or is this screaming for color?

IMO, it's "screaming for color." I don't think it would look weird to paint just wall. I have three accent walls in my apartment, and I think they look okay.

Chocolate brown, rich navy or deep rich purple would lok great there, i think. If you plan  a painting, then coordinate it with the colors on it.

I think you can definitely do an accent color! really...almost anything would work with cream and white IMO

Screaming for color! I agree with Yana on picking an accent color from the artwork. Coral or salmon would be great.

Definitely do an accent color! I think they give a room some personality. Pick a color that makes you happy when you look at it.

We have an interior (no windows) room in our apt. and three walls are chocolate brown, and one wall is cream. It breaks up the color intensity. So, if you did the reverse (one color wall, 3 non-color (white)) I think it should work fine.

I'd put the deeper toned accent wall behind the bed, regardless of where the window is. And just my opinion, but I think texturing it would be too busy for a contemporary look. A large piece of art above the bed would give it modern punch.
