should I paint my walls first even though

I have no furniture yet in my 2nd living room? My husband wants to paint all our walls downstairs, we have furniture expect in the 2nd living room, what do you think? I'm just afraid when I'm ready to but furniture that I'll have to work around the paint instead of me working around my furniture....

that is true but it is so much simpler to paint without anything in the room.


what colors are you thinking about?


unless you are planning to do something really funky---stripes or triangles or every wall a different color, i wouldn't think it would be too hard to match.

I guess thats true, .... I'm thinking of light pastel like colors, not too sure yet, but I know for sure no designs or bright colors. thanks

I think as long as you have a general idea of what type of furniture you will buy (i.e. light or dark wood, traditional or contemporary, etc.) you will be fine. I have always done paint before buying furniture.

I think you'll be just fine!  It doesn't sound like you're choosing anything crazy furniture- or paint-wise, so chances are they'll look fine together.  Could you choose the main pieces of furniture and then paint before they are actually put in the house?
