My friend just passed away at too early of an age 35.  Does anyone have any song lyrics or quotes that touch on death at a young age?

Depends on what "style" you're going for, but my bf recently lost a second cousin who was only 40, and one of the songs that they played at his memorial service (while a slideshow was running) was "We're Here For a Good Time, Not a Long Time" by Trooper. It really suited him personally, and I think it was meaningful for those attending without being overly "heavy."

HTH; so sorry to hear about your friend.

ETA: I just re-read your post and realized that it looks like you're not look for a song per-se, but something to actually quote. I'll poke around and see what I can come up with...

"only the good die young" by billy joel comes to mind, but that's kind of upbeat. not that there's anything wrong with that...

There's that Elton John song that he wrote for Marilyn and again for Princess Di.... I can't remember the name of it at my current pre-coffee state though...

It's called "Candle in the Wind." Sorry to hear about your friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately have been through the same thing twice now and my best friend died in her 20's.
The song that comes to mind (Maybe not right but..) is "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor - apparently about the death of someone close to him too soon. And it's a beautiful song I think.
"Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again"

I also always think of "Fields of Gold" - especially the Eva Cassidy version.
And "bittersweet symphony" by the Verve. But neither of those 2 have specific lyrics.

I don't know the song but Kenny Chesney has one called something like "Who you'd be today" with lyrics about somebody who died too young.

Thinking of you - losing a friend young is so hard. {{Hugs}}

My sympathies on the loss of your friend. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

I looked around for some quotes for you. Hopefully one might help you plan the service.

Death always comes too early or too late. ~ English Saying

It matters not how a man dies, but how he lives. ~ Samuel Johnson

After your death you will be what you were before your birth.
Arthur Schopenhauer

Any relic of the dead is precious, if they were valued living.
Emily Bronte

As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death.
Leonardo Da Vinci

Because I could not stop for death, He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held but just ourselves and immortality.
Emily Dickinson

But life is sweet, though all that makes it sweet. Lessen like sound of friends departing feet; And death is beautiful as feet of friend. Coming with welcome at our journey's end.
James Russell Lowell
