They are the best friend of many a knit! If you are building from scratch, I would also suggest a pullout table surface for folding, 1 or 2 flip out hooks for hanging outfits and dry cleaning, and a retractable belt rack.
Sliding open drawers to tend to get expensive though, so shelving would be fine for jeans and bulky sweaters. If price and space isn't a problem though, I would also put them in for shoes!

I saw a closet done by California Closets in a model home the other day and it was just to die for. I was with my mom and sister, and we were all just in awe! It had the counter with drawers in the middle for folding, sliding drawers for jewelry storage, and his and hers pull out storage for laundry. It was absolutely perfect! I would definitely check out California Closets. Even my boyfriend was impressed, and he's definitely not the type to care!
yeah, i'd consider installing it ourselves but then I'll always notice the little crooked parts....
CA closets did our closets now and I can seriously stand in front of them for hours.
I'll have to check out all of our options...
LOVE the idea of hooks to hang the next day's outfit and being able to see all (or most) of my shoes and jewlery....jewlery trays(!) brilliant! altho it's an apt and theft and NYC and maybe a jewlery box is a better idea(altho then they just pick it up and it's all gone...).
so many options.
