Help with care package idea...
Permalink Closed

SO is leaving for Air Force training this week for a month :( and was supposed to be going with his two best friends. But this week one of them really injured his knee and won't be able to go to it anymore. He is beyond upset and probably pretty angry too (they have been looking forward to this for about a year.) SO and I are going to send him a care package...what what on earth do you send a 20 year old guy that will take his mind off of it? I am really stumped here....please help! I want to send this out in the next two days

I don't know if it would take his mind off of it, but I think food is pretty well received in these kinds of situations! Something that will last through the mail... One of my favorite baking bloggers recommends this recipe for mailing:

http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/2008/04/old-school-fudge-brownies-with-walnuts/

She says that they're easy to stack and stay moist for a long time.

Does he have any kind of video game system? Would a game be too pricey for a care package?

What about burning him a CD with songs that your SO thinks his friend would like (I assume that they grew up together?) Maybe music from their high school days?

Is the friend stationed over seas right now? Because i know people there love a bit of home being sent to them. Maybe you could include some post cards from your home city and have mutual friends write a line or two on each card. People are more likely to do it if they only have to write a few sentences instead of a whole letter.

 ditto!
also maybe find out the nearest pizza place that delivers and give him a gc or just put in orders for him. Since I'm assuming he wont be able to drive or rather wouldn't....

Food always makes men happy

Food, booze, distractions - love the magazine suggestion, even a few of them. If he's sitting around the house you could throw in a Soap Opera Digest as a gag.
