we're attempting to finish off a room in our basement, as some of you might remember me mentioning before.
We have the studs, beadboard and doors hung. we are spraying the ceiling a dark charcoal, and just finished the primer on the ceiling yesterday. The walls are going to be a deep almond (Behr's Hacienda) and I'm doing white trim.
For the cement floors, I decided not to paint them. I was watching Divine Design on HGTV and they showed this vinyl wood floor plank product that looked fantastic. It's textured and looks real when it's down. Totally waterproof, no pad or subfloor required, and it floats so it can be easily removed/repaired. We're also doing the star steps in it, but I think I'm going to have to use gorilla glue or something to make sure it's secure on the steps since it doesn't stick down, and the only thing holding it down would be the metal step edge things.
I've been dealing with some improvements at my dad's rental house, and I actually saw this flooring at Home Depot a few weeks ago - first thing I thought of was how perfect for a basement!
I can't wait to see pictures! I'm definitely interested to hear how the flooring turns out. Do you think you'd use it anywhere else in your house? How does it compare to the laminate flooring?
