I ordered some "rhubarb"-colored chinos for less than $20 shipped from J Crew. When they arrived they were much brighter than the website lead me to believe. Darn your nutty color palette J Crew!
I had a really hard time creating outfits with hot pink pants. Black, white, grey, yawn. Also when you have long legs like mine and wear a minimum of a 34" inseam, well... that's a whole lot of pink. Subtlety has no place with these. I tried but just couldn't make them work.
I got the brilliant idea to dye them dark brown. I really wanted, but couldn't find, a pair of chocolate brown pair of trousers. I had success dyeing a couple of things before. It seemed only natural.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of only using one box of dye. EPIC FAIL. The first rule of dyeing: dark colors always always always require at least two dye boxes!
Ness always likes to know whats going on.
She looks like she thinks it's pretty damn funny.
In the end, 2 more boxes of dark brown and 1 box of green (for color intensity and depth) and I have replaced the DYI-gone-awry pants with some nice dark brown khakis.
I took my plain white button down (which I never wear because it bores me) and bought an embroidery kit (http://www.sublimestitching.com/lapetitekit.html) which included an embroidery needle, scissors, embroidery hoop, and iron-on transfers. I embroidered two tattoo-style swallows on the front of the shirt, and an off-center heart on the back. It was my first time ever doing embroidery, and it was so easy and fun! The kit cost $22.50, but I still have a lot of embroidery floss and iron-on transfers left, and each transfer can be used multiple times. And any time I want to do this again after I use all those up, all I need to do is buy the pattern and embroidery floss. So the cost for this first modification was $22.50, but from now on I could do this same modification for just a couple bucks.
I think the idea of the contest is to see who was most creative in transforming the outfit, so to me it's Metric - great color transformation, on both occasions, I love the dark outcome, but the "tie dye" effect was interesting too. Kelly also did a good job, very tastefully, but ultimately, the blouse just got more decoration, but remained the same blouse. So, Metric is a winner for me!
D- what is your toliet seat made of? decor? just being nosey.....
I think you ment mine? Our toilet seat is clear plastic/lucite (?) with razor blades floating in it. BF's decor choice, NOT mine. Its so dumb but he gets such a kick out of it.
Kind of like this but with razors instead of ducks
I'm not fussy about the bathroom decor so I let him have his way with it. He chose a razor toilet seat and hung fake Hawaiian leis all over. This is why he isn't allowed to decorate any other rooms.
