Philosophy at Target
Permalink Closed

I just noticed that my Target is now carrying a very small section of Philosophy products.  I don't know how I fee about this.  They had Origin products too.  I kind of like my higher end beauty products separated from my drug store items.  I know it's silly, but they don't really feel like a treat if i can just run out to Target and get my coconut scrub.  They were the same price as at Sephora too.

I got some Philosophy soap around Christmastime -- it was in their clearance section, so I guess that is a benefit of carrying the line in Target -- better discounts than other stores.

I agree Boots! I guess its convenient if you can't find a sephora but it takes away from the experience. If I want to pay $24 for body wash, I don't want a baby to be screaming in my ear while I wait on a massive line and get ignored at the checkout.

I agree too.  If it's too accessible it doesn't seem special.  They also have it online.

Okay Boots, you said it yourself. I almost can't believe you admitted this. It is silly. It's just marketing, it's still the same product.

And my toddler boys have been into Sephora with me, babbling, touching things, complaining that they were bored, saying it's too crowded... but yes, the s.a.'s at Sephora are so great every time... biggrin

Meanwhile, I will be on the lookout for Philosophy at Target, I'm always there. Thanks for the heads up.

Not having to deal with the bi+ches at the mall, or mall parking, or running around to multiple stores to get a handful of things, seems like more of a treat to me.

Target has Philsopohy illegally from what I understand. They also stocked some other high end brands illegally such as Bare Escentuals and Origins and are in the middle of huge lawsuits to try and figure out where they received these products. If you notice, they only carry a small part of the line and a lot of the products (at least in the case of Bare Escentuals) are discontinued back-stock. So why on earth would you pay full price for old product being sold illegally? Just thought I would let you know....

That is very interesting.  I wonder how they can get away with this?

I used to work in the fragrance industry in the "special markets" field, aka taking product that didn't sell in the department stores and repurposing it for sale internationally or with chain stores like Target, TJ Maxx, etc. Some of the smaller accounts we had were not stores but distributors who would sell to whomever would take. I'm imagining this is how these items got to Target.

The product was never expired but it usually spent at least 6 months in Macys or something, unless it was a special item . This is why I never buy beauty stuff off-price.

Heck, you could just go to JC Penny and get it from their in-store Sephora dept

I gotta say, it takes the joy out of Sephora to see it in the middle of JC Penny

Wow, this is interesting. My Target also sells Frederic Fekkai products. They have a pretty extensive selection, too. I never even thought about it... is this the same situation?

No this isn't the same thing.  P&G ships this product directly to Target stores. =)
