Yeah, unfortunately, looking "cute" is going to hold you back long term.

InStyle.com has a good feature on hairstyles. Here are some ideas.

This one may not work for your hair type (my hairstylist said "no" on this for me cuz my hair is too thick and wavy), but who knows? I love this:

I cant believe only 1 person replied so far... I think going with a modern cut, a hairdo that no 13 yr old would pick might work (the 3rd pic that NCShopper selected).

I don't know if they would work with your hair texture, but I really like the 2nd and 3rd pictures you posted of Katie Holmes, kel. I like that hairstyle on her better than her with bangs.

I also like Jennifer Hudson's hair in that picture NCshopper posted.

ETA: I also like the Mandy Moore hairstyle. Her hair looks wavy in that picture so that might work.

I like the ones kdm posted. They have an edge to them that will help to make you look older. I think the "edge' factor is what will take the style from cute to sophisticated.
