Well I don't know much about the US side but I stayed on the Canadian side and didn't have enough time to do stuff. If you want to go over to canada you just need a driver's license right now. You ought to check into staying over there because its really nice and they have lots to do and see.

I went about 10 years ago w/ my family. I remember thinking it was pretty cool. On the US side there were lots of historic sites and state parks to visit. You won't need your passport if you stay in New York, but we also walked across to Canada. There were some pretty gardens and things to do on that side.

If you have passports I would bring them just so if you do decide to walk over you can.

We live pretty close to Canada and the last few times we have went there they have asked us for passports. My brother didn't think he brought his, but I actually grabbed it for him. They were not going to let him over and he had a driver licesne.

hmm I don't live near there so I'm not sure how its working now. I know some people from my dad's work went a couple of years ago (after 911) and they had told us just licenses because we were looking into going but we ended up not going.

If you have a passport bring it but I don't know if I'd go out and get one for a weekend trip.

You'll almost certainly need a passport to get across the border these days, and to get back into the US as well (it's a hassle both ways, and for both nationalities now). Probably not worth it - the falls on the Canadian side are more spectacular but - eh, not worth the border hassle, imo.

I have never really found it a hassle. They just ask us where we are going and why. Then they ask for our passports and once they ask for a 2nd id.

There is an aquarium that is close that I went to. I don't remember much about it excpet the harbour seals and penquins. I do remember that I had a good time.
