I actually worked out last night!  I can't believe it.  You can't even get me to take a walk, so this is big.  I did a 30-minute cardio-sculpt routine on FitTV on Demand.

Have you ever heard of or seen the Tonique videos?  Super challenging!  I swear, they must use a computer animated person for the workout.  I don't think the woman is real.  Annoying voiceover, but great workout--so I muted it.

Couldn't do the whole thing, but I'll work up to that.  I just sat on the ottoman and did Richard Simmons-style sit-down moves in order to keep my heart-rate up.

That's great! Getting motivated and excited is half the battle!

I just read an blurb about Tonique in a magazine, I can't remember which one though.  I've been thinking about seeing if NetFlix has it.  Can you tell me a bit more about it?  I want to try some regular toning exercises as I'm still too afraid to join The Shredders ;)

Oh my god!! I just got the Tonique DVD last week and have been DYING to share its hilarity with someone else. The British voice over has me rolling every time I do it. Stay hydrated! YOU can DO it!

And Sylwia, the instructor, is a beast. the DVD is 3 twenty-minute segments, and I don't think I will ever be able to do them all at once. Her body is SICK!

I work out almost every day, even did the 30-day shred, and the squat workout kicked my butt. I couldn't sit for 2 days!

Sibeski, I actually think 30 day shred is easier than than tonique.

Here is the ExerciseTV page for Tonique.
You can watch a sample clip there.

The page with the online downloads, different from the dvd purchase, is here.

My take:
- Exercises are very simple (first move is jumping jacks), but the number of reps is way higher than what is found in other routines, and the recommended posture allows you to maximize each move.

- Moves allow you to take care of cardio, strength, and balance at the same time--which I love.

- The beginner video is quite challenging.  Keep in mind that I am very sedentary.  The voiceover actually says that you might not be able to do the whole thing at first.

- I like the styling--one person, light-filled brick loft/warehouse-style setting, with voiceover.  The demonstrator is not speaking while doing the exercises.

- Because of the high number of reps for each move, you can really dig in and perfect each one as you learn.  Routine could almost become meditative once you learn it by heart.

- Like most other exercise program hosts and voiceovers, this one can get a little annoying.  Once you know what you're doing, you can mute it.

- Stretch and warm up on your own before because the video just throws you in.

- Be prepared to be amazed at how toned and fit this woman is!

- Only equipment you need is a set of small dumbells.  I used two Deer Park bottled waters!

Thanks girls!  I'm still on Jillian Michaels for beginners and am trying to decide which way to go when I'm no longer a beginner ;)
It's funny...when I was younger I hated the cardio and lifted pretty much exclusively.  Now, it's reverse and I really have to make myself get off the cardio!
