Stuff I Tivo and actually watch:

  • American Idol

  • Survivor

  • Apprentice

  • America's Next Top Model

  • The Bachelor (we only started watching this season because its so trashy :) )

  • SuperNanny

  • CBS Sunday Morning Show w/Charles Osgood (I Love that old guy)

  • Desperate Houswives (although I am constantly annoyed with this show, esp. Terri Hatcher and Eva Longoria; they are SO ANNOYING!)

Things I Tivo, but usually to never watch:

  • Simpsons

  • Oprah

  • Dr. Phil

  • America's Funniest Home Videos

  • Sabrina The Teenage Witch (Although I think it's because I already watched every episode two to three times)

  • Birth Day (I am so freakin' fascinated with babies and birth; I had to stop watching this or one day I might have "accidently" ended up pregnant)

  • Saturday Night Live (every once in a while there is a decent episode, like during the elections)

Oh good - so I'm not alone w/my obsession.  My boyfriend and I are so addicted to reruns on Lifetime!  It's on everyday like 4 times a day.  And all of our friends make fun of us for Tivo-ing it.

I had tivo & just when I got used to it, it was taken away in divorce. I got a new one EXACTLY 2 weeks later. I thought I didn't care until I didn't have it. It is the best invention since the dryer!!!
The ABSOLUTE best part is pausing during the show & FF through commercials. I think it is wonderful & don't know how I ever lived without it.

Here is my advice for a beginner. First of all, I don't do a season pass on every single show I watch, only things that we potentially won't be home for & I don't want to miss for anything (ex: Friday night stuff). Then I plan out the week or if my DH will be out of town I tivo what I know for sure I won't be home for. It is very easy to get overwhelmed with shows that in the backlog & think you can never get caught up!!!! I know I get nervous if I have 10 hours of tivo stuff out there & sometimes can't get to it before the next episode. Don't get overwhelmed, take it a little at a time. Before you go to bed, if you know you will gone tomorrow, think about what you watch & if you care or not. Sometimes you won't & don't worry about it, if you do, tivo.

Not being preachy or complicated about the whole deal, but if i was new to tivo & saw Farrah's list, I think i would freak out!!! LOL - Farrah, I watch almost all that too, but don't tivo it all - I was cracking up the whole time I read your list!!!!!!!!!!!

Desperate Housewives (DH won't watch, so we watch DVDs on Sun night & then I watch after he is sleeping)

House

Lost

Battlestar Galactica (one of those SciFi shows that DH gunked it up with that I got TOTALLY hooked on)

Two & a Half Men

Faith & Hope

Real World

Surreal Life

Did tivo Strange Love, but it is over

Whatever we won't be home for on our specific "tv" night or if my DH is out of town so he can watch when he gets home.

let's see... i tivo alot of shows that are on in the same time slot as other shows that i watch - like i love house, but i watch the amazing race at 9 on tuesdays, and i record survivor while i watch the OC. other shows that are in my record list...

lost, america's next top model, super nanny (this show scares me!), the office, numbers, 24, arrested development, family guy reruns (so happy they have new eps coming out!), the daily show, south park, crank yankers, chapelle's show, stand up on comedy central, how do i look? on the style network, and a ton of wedding shows (buff brides, for better or for worse, whose wedding is it anyway?, a wedding story, etc).
