I was wondering if anyone used self tanning lotions?
I bought every day body mosturiser by Jergins ( self tanning/natural glow) & Nivea "sun kissed legs" which are both highly recommended by beauty specialists of Lucky mag., InStyle, Vogue, etc....They also say that Nivea product makes your legs smoother, which results in less shaving....I'm very fair/pale, my legs are normally too white, & I also use sunblock & don't like to sun tan/beaches/spray tan, etc....so I thought to go with the most pleasant option for myself - body lotion. I purchase "fair to medium" kinds, since I didn't intend to look orange....however....It's been a month & I don't detect any sun kissing.....or less shaving.... Any thoughts? Experience? Suggestions? Pity?:)
They all kind of creep me out. I have one from Kiss My Face that is ostensibly less chemical-laden. It works fine, but I wish it was a spray instead of a gel.
My all time fave self tanner is St. Tropez. I am pale as a ghost and this stuff is very believable, never orangey, minimized weird tanner smell, and rarely streaks, if ever. I've used the lotion and mousee (which dries quicker)
I also bought the tanner remover (in mini packetts) and they are GREAT for using on hands after the application so you don't stain.
Thanx ladies! I didn't wan to buy anything spray, since I'm afraid it won't come out even & might look fake, so I bought this lotion, since it's like a regular body cream/lotion with a pleasant smell, also it doesn't give you the immediate tan, but tells you that will appear gradually ( I was after the natural look). Also, you don't have to wash it out.
However, to Gossip girl, that Jergings dark - how pale is your skin? HOw does the lotion look & how quickly did you get results?? I was afraid to start using dark in order not to appear orange...
I'm very pale (think Irish pale.) I use the Jerkins medium to dark. It works on me in about 4 days. I get a nice, light tan color. The light version did absoultely nothing for me when I tried it.
Hi, BOots! AHA! that what i wanted to know....I didn't want a tint, wanted it to build in within a few days, that's why I picked this Jergins thing... but thought that dark would turn orange on me ( I"m not Irish, but just as pale).OK, will try that , since it's the most affordable option for me so far.... I went to Sephora's website, CLinique tint/tan lotions/cream seem to be rather budget friendly & as they write - nice in terms of touch & ingredients...anyone tried?
Another trick I do is apply a thin layer of sesame or baby oil after my shower in the morning if I want my legs to look especially good that day. It helps make the most of the color I have.
Sawwy! I haven't checked back on this post. I have medium skin - long time user of self-tanning products. Jergens is good for novices, though. It's much harder to mess us, has a decent scent and the color goes on pretty light. Like all self tanning products (some of which you need to be much more precise) I shower in the morning, exfoliate a little in the shower, at least. Then when you put it on, DONT rub into elbows, knees and ankles - go lightly over those areas and you'll do fine. I also don't avoid these areas or you'll have white splotches. Wash your hands well after application.
If your real pale, maybe start with the lighter colors.
Does anyone know of a good self tanner that doesn't feel sticky? I always have applied mine at night and I hate the way my legs stick together while I am trying to go to sleep.
To gossip girl, thanx! THat's the problem, light-medium doesn't do much at all, i did notice though that after using for A MONTH, not a few days as they promote ( Jergins), i look not AS white, but ...off white'ish...I"m finishing this tube & so far plan to buy mediu-dark skin to try how it looks on me. It seems that I do the same process after the shower as you recommend. I do like that it's not sticky/smelly ( smells of coffee), doesn't stain my clothes.
