Dumb question - but what shape is my face?
Permalink Closed

Whenever you're looking for a new haircut, sunglasses, hat, etc., magazines and guides always base everything around what shape your face is. But....I cannot, for the life of me, decide which shape my face is. For a while I thought it was oval, but that's the shape that all the "experts" say will work with just anything - and I assure you, my face does NOT work with just anything.

Can anyone help me? I blocked out my face because it was a super ugly and weird expression. I didn't want to smile because I was afraid it would change the outline!

lol! Sorry, but I suck at this too! I never know what face shape I am either. I hate seeing those things in mag's cause I get so confused!

Maybe more oblong? My first instinct was oval, but if you aren't feeling oval, perhaps oblong. It's hard to tell since the cheek line is blocked out.

It's definitely an oval. I am totally with you on the magazine thing--I also have an oval face that should technically work with any shape glasses or haircut and that is definitely not true. I think a lot of it is about the proportion--I have a relatively small face and so most adult glasses are ridiculously large on me, so the oversize sunglass trend of the past few years just looks flat out wrong on me. As far as haircuts go, I find that long styles just drag my face down and I look really long in the face. I think only medium to short hairstyles work on my oval face.

I think that you are probably an oval. I have a hard time with my face too. I think I'm technically an oval, but like you, my face doesn't work with everything. It's like saying that an hourglass figure will work with every style. I'm an hourglass and it definitely does not look good in many styles out there. I think magazines just like to slap general categories on things because it makes it easier to show a line of sunglasses or hair styles, you know?

I was going to say round, but I'm sure I'm WRONG! LOL I've often wondered myself what 'shape' my face is....???? LOL

I actually think you are a combination oval/square. Your forehead to the cheekbones looks square and from the cheekbones down it looks oval. I would try sunglasses that are supposed to work on a square face and hair styles lengths meant to look good on oval face. (be careful with bangs, make sure they flatter both the square and oval in your face.)

Not everyone's face is going to fit exactly in to 4 different face shapes. How boring would THAT be? :)

Is "cute" a shape? If so, I say cute.

So it's a squoval? smile.gif I think I agree with this assessment. I also think it's what my face is as well. The outline of your face looks really similar to mine. It's *almost* heart shaped, but I think heart shaped faces are a little wider at the cheekbone and narrower at the chin. Clearly, I'm no help.

Thanks girls! Ugh, I wish faces DID fall into 4 perfect shapes, only because then it would make it so much easier for me :) But thinking of my face as a "combo" has helped some! Thanks!

Suasoria - giggle.gif I LOL'd at that
