Figured I'd ask because I talk about ST quite a bit and talk about some of you to my bf. So the other night he got curious and signed up so that he would feel we had something in common and "meet" my friends. He hasn't posted yet and I don't think he will since he hasn't been back on since the night he signed up. I was kinda weirded out at first but now find it funny.  Thought it would be a fun topic. I'd post a poll but the forum hates me and html right now.


Just wondering if anyone else's other half has done this or admitted to it?

Nobody has done this with me (that I know of) but sometimes I worry about going on stylethread at other people's houses because they might get curious. 


Maybe I am a psycho, but if my boyfriend had a site he ALWAYS talked about, I would do the exact same thing as your boyfriend except I probably wouldn't tell him.

FH doesn't have the patience to navigate the forums, I don't think.  I talk about y'all quite a bit too - it's such an cool resource to have access to so many intelligent women (and man) spread about the world.

my guy is always saying "what clothes are you looking at now on your shopping forum site???"  he can't remember the name... but you can guess that when he has an item he is looking for he'll turn to me to come here and have you guys help me find it!

I'm ALWAYS bringing up some topic or fashion trend or beauty secret or whatever that gets talked about on this site. Everyone's always like, "who? where?" So now I just say I was discussing it with a "friend." Isn't that fab? Y'all are all my "friends" in real life!

I do the same thing!  My FH knows about the site and teases me about it all the time.  i don't think he's interested enough in women's fashion to come check it out though.  he calls you guys my "tea party friends".  i have no idea why, but he thinks he's hilarious.


I worry sometimes that this forum will get really big and someone I know or a friend of a friend will figure out who I am and read something less than flattering...I sort of use the forum to vent from time to time plus I don't want any of my friends to know how obsessed I am with fashion/shopping.  as if they already don't know...

My hubby always ask me what the girls are saying today   I have told a friend or two about it in general, but generally I just refer to like blubirde, a friend.  And I have sworn my husband to secrecy regarding me posting outfits in the thread style, I'm afraid some people just wouldn't understand

Sometimes my husband will sit behind me when I come to the thread as he calls it just to "see" what things I'll be wanting to buy next. Besides him though nobody else knows that I come to the forum because I think they might come on here and look at some personal things that I have posted before. It's our little secret

I'm too embarrassed to let him know I am on as much as I am!  Although I know he already knows.  He constantly says "How do you find out about these things?"  I just smile and pretend to be really knowledgeable all on my own. I even clear the history on our computer so he won't know or worse yet lurk!!!!

Once (back in the fashionhag days) my fiance made an account to lurk called "Hagginitup". Like a dumbo i got on his computer one day, checked into fashion hag and made a post not realizing I was logged on as "Hagginitup" until later!

My bf and my mom always ask what my "chat friends" are up to. Sometimes they always "just happen" to be reading over my shoulder,too. 


I have referred to you guys for a while as my "friends" (to other people) but I didn't want to say anything at the risk of sounding super needy and dorky. Also sometimes I slip up and say "my friend Halleybird" or "my friend Detriot" to other people.  They always react like: someone named their daughter Detroit???


I sometime worry that someone will go..."hey I know that girl", too.

haha, i've mentioned the site b4 (not by name) but i don't really want anyone to check it out, especially when i post stuff in the dating/relationships forum or other areas where it's about someone else in my life.  when i talk about stuff i found out here tho i always refer to u guys as my friends.  sounds cooler to the outside world than "i read it on a shopping forum", even tho i know u guys are cool!

my husband doesn't care.  he has all my passwords to anything he wants to log in to, but he doesn't.  I used to take great care in my emails not to speak ill of him, but now I just say whatever because I know he won't check....not that I really speak ill of him.  Sometimes it surprises me how secure he is with me, but I am such an open book and I give him full disclosure on all important and non-important issues, so I guess he thinks he knows enough about what's going on in my head.

This is the funniest thing i've ever heard - I was thinking it was just me. I moved to Dallas about a year ago & have made a few friends, but I really don't have anyone here that would say "That is the ugliest outfit I have ever seen, what were you smoking?" Like my REAL friends at home. So I originally started here for that reason. Now when I find cool stuff here I also say "a friend" kind of thing because i don't want anyone to know how much of a nerd I am!!!

Funny story - I have been looking at the outfit posts on thread style since it started but haven't posted my own - one night I posted some shoes I won on ebay in the "weekend shopping" post so my DH noticed & said "You posted your new shoes? I thought you looked at those pictures so you could mock the people that posted." I thought that was hysterical - I said "no, I have never mocked them - I ask them for fashion advice all the time, silly!!!!" LOL - I bought some clothes a few weeks ago & photographed them for the weekend shopping thread, and he was out of town, so i emailed them to him. He said "Cute clothes but I know that you took those to put on that board"

So last night when I was posting pictures of my new kittens (see general chat if you are interested ) - he was like "There is a place on there for you to post kitty pictures? I'm sure those people think you are nuts!" - I was like I don't think they do, you get to know people when you read about their clothes / entertainment / personal crap all the time!

But i've recently become paranoid that my DH's ex may be on here - HOW WOULD I EVER KNOW???? Plus I've seen pictures of her outfits & I seriously doubt she would care AT ALL about fashion Maybe I should back off so she can get some help!!!

that's exactly how i feel.  i used to tell butthead about my fashion site that i check everyday about 50 times, but i never told him the name of it.
