I am 34 years old and in a way I feel pressed for time as far as the fashion world is concerned. I have always liked clothes, but it has only been in the past three years that I have gotten financially to a point where I can afford to have a good wardrobe. However, I do have a budget which is the reason I inflict shopping bans on myself. However, I see all these cute things I want--I got a catalog in the mail yesterday and there are 5 things in there I want, but I have already spent my spring money. Sometimes I think, if I don't get this or that now I will be too old to wear it in a few years. But, the truth is--no I really want be too old because the things I like are not teeny bopper. Why then do I feel this way? Why can't I just relax and say, "Oh, well I will just get that next spring?"
Does anyone else (maybe over 25) have these feelings?
I think your feeling comes from the "Gotta Have It Now" society we live in. Sometimes I get all excited and feel I have to go out and buy all sorts of things. My things are more books, music, and beauty products, I get most of my clothes at thrift stores so I can buy as much of that as I want. The thrift store thing is like an addiction though, I have to get a fix every week or I get all panicky. So, maybe I do have a problem with all things. However, I do have to be realistic, I do not have an unlimited supply of cash, I do not want to rack up a credit card bill, and I like to have savings. Soo....all that combines to find me talking myself down from the overspending tree!! I hope that helps with the budgetary issue As for age, well, you rock the looks you want, I know you are a sensible woman, you are on Stylethread voicing your concerns. You will know if something is right for you. I am the same age as you, Meow, and I am enjoying it!! What things do you feel will pass you by if you wait?? Most of the looks I see here are a mix of classic, funky, creative... there is no maximum age claim !!!!
I am in the same boat, and the fact that I work at a school, so the only "fashionable girls" that I see are 7th graders, not even Juniors or Seniors, or a bunch of ladies that are 60+ I have no inspiration for me, other than fellow stylethreaders...
I also like to buy things that are more classic, or scream "chic" to me, or are great quality...
