.... if I get into the nursing program this year . I'm trying to brace myself because the chance of me getting in is really looooooow (random number picking is how they decide) but I keep getting my hopes up! Bah!
Everyone keeps trying to tell me to think positively, but that just seems .. naive? If it were based on merit I'd be on board, but it's not so I think what I really need is luck. I'd appreciate any lucky, lucky thoughts on Friday if you've got them to spare!

Total thread hijack....Sorry! BF's funding runs out next December so he's gotta finish the Ph.D. process by then. Or at least everything but the final writing stages. Plus, I don't think either of us could last much longer than a year here on the East Coast. The BF told me the other day that I just have to pick the place and he'll be ready to move.

So it's not even random picking from the best qualified applicants/applications? Ours runs on a point system based on many factors--including past academic performance. Then they just pick the first XX applicants in order of highest points on down.

Good luck. Nursing programs are tough to enter!
This is the sort of thing they're switching to next year. For right now, as long as you have a few pre-req classes done, you're in the pot with everyone else. There are people who have applied for 4 previous years and not gotten in yet, so they each get an extra number in the pot for everytime they've applied previously. See? This is serious luck-based business!

I'll continue with the hijack...that's awesome! My BF said the same thing to me. Bonus points that we just visited San Diego and he absolutely loved it. It's looking like I'm finally going to get to move to California!
Elle, good luck! And random picking?? That's how they choose who is qualified to go through a nursing program? Wow.
