i hope this hasn't been discussed already -- it's been a while since i've been able to read regularly here...
yesterday i finished reading "prep" by curtis sittenfeld. it's about a girl and her four years at boarding school in massachusetts. a big part of my interest in reading it is that i went to boarding school too, although not one that was very famous or prestigious, and i was wondering if anyone else had read the book and what they thought of it, whether or not they'd been to boarding school themselves.
personally, i thought it was very well-written, sometimes it made me laugh out loud, and certain details about life at the school rang really true for me. but it was also very sad at the same time.
I read part of it and then dropped it. But it was entertaining, I just never follow through with books anymore. My friend who went to boarding school LOVED it, she said it's exactly what it was like for her. She went to Middlesex in Concord, MA and is convinced that it's based on her school.
