*SPOILERS*

Want to discuss last night's Lost? I thought it was a pretty good episode. I was glad they finally disclosed who "Matthew" was, as well as his relationship to Charles Widmore. I liked when he asked Locke how long it had been for him since they last spoke and Locke said "four days".
I don't understand Ben's character anymore. Why did he have to kill Locke instead of letting him commit suicide? I didn't see any suicide note left for Jack so either Ben wrote it or they left that part out.
Is it safe to assume that when you die in "present time" you will be alive when you hit the island if the time on the island is in the past? This explains Locke and Christian Shepard.
On another note, it was nice to see Walt. I hope to see more of him and an explanation of his "special powers". I hope they explain what happened to Michael since he exploded on the freighter right?
Which reminds me, I really want them to explain why Hurley can see dead people - or I should say, why he can see people who died on the island (Charlie, Ana Lucia, Mr. Eko).

I don't know about Hurley. Maybe he really is crazy. Or maybe, since he's supposed the moral compass of the show, he's more sensitive than other people.

I think we saw Locke write the letter before his suicide attempt. I think I remember it, that is. With Lost you can never count on what you think though!

I wonder if the woman who rode off with the pilot was Sun? Does that mean she crashed with the other plane passengers? If so, why didn't she vanish like the other original islanders? And if she didn't crash and did vanish, who was the woman with the pilot?

I hope Locke tells everyone what Ben did to him. How is anyone supposed to decide which side of the "war" they want to be on? They all seem bad. Maybe the Losties will form their own army and win everything. : )

At first Ben didn't know that Locke knew who that women was (Faraday's mom, what's her name?) - it was because Locke revealed that that Ben decided he had to kill him.

We did see Locke write the suicide note - the the hotel room, and then he folded it up and put it in his back pocket.

Who is Mattew again?  I must have missed that .....

Matthew was Locke's driver--also the guy that showed up in Hurley's mental hospital a few seasons ago.  (Also Lt. Daniels from the show The Wire.)

Is anyone else considering not watching anymore? The writing and storyline have gone to sh*t.

NO WAY!!  I'm hooked!  I actually think this season is better then last season.

And I don't know about you guys but I don't think there has ever been a more likeable/hateable character on TV as much as Ben is.  Just when he scams you into trusting him and thinking he is all smart and sweet, he goes and makes you hate him by letting his daughter (I know, not really his daughter, but still) get killed, kills John, etc. etc.  He is a brilliant character/actor!!

I was so mad I missed about the first half because my recording got messed up. (Had to watch Idol too!) I guess it doesn't really matter because they are always jumping back and forth on the show.

Anyhow, I'm also wondering why Ben had to kill Locke instead of letting him commit suicide. Also why did he act like he just wanted to commit suicide instead of killing himself because he was told he had to die?

I think Ben only killed Locke because of something to do with Eloise Hawking. Ben seems to genuinely want to help Locke live until Locke mentioned her name. Maybe Ben sees it as a way to get back to the island and back to the leader of the Others?

I don't know. The BF and I were discussing this. Maybe Kenzie can shed some light from her Lost forums, but could it be that since Locke is a Christ figure, he can't kill himself and return to the island? Maybe he can only be killed and return? So maybe Ben didn't let him kill himself because he knew that wasn't what would get him back? Mortal sin and all that jazz...

But then again maybe Ben only killed Locke once he got the name of Daniel's mom - either he didn't know it and needed it or he did know it and couldn't let Locke get to her first.

You can never count on Ben's motives.

As for not watching, I'm with Luv2Shop. I think this season is waaay better than some previous seasons.

That's what I love about Ben. Just when you start to think he's a good guy after all, he stranges somebody!

It's interesting that Hawking's mother is also the woman who was trying to explain things to Desmond in his time jumping episode (she was the clerk at the jewlery store.) She's definately important in some way. And since Daniel sent Desomd to find her, Daniel must know it too.

I think this season is great so far. I'm already looking forward to Wed night.

Until he mentioned her name or Jin and the ring as proof he was alive....

Eloise is also in a photograph with the monk that ran the monestary where Desmond lived.  The day he tells the monk he is quitting, the camera quickly shows a picture on his desk of him and Eloise.  Funny that I noticed it back in the day and am still waiting for an answer on that one.

I actually haven't been on any of the lost boards this week, but here are my thoughts:

I don't think Locke can kill himself and I think Ben knew that. I don't think the knowledge Locke had of Eloise Hawking was necessarily the direct trigger. Rather, it may have been an indirect trigger for Ben- letting him know (somehow) that Locke did in fact have to die.  I think Locke had to be a sacrifice (not a suicide). I also think that Locke (and possibly Christian) are special. I don't think that everyone who dies would come back to life on the island. There was definitely some dramatic foreshadowing in last week's episode (316) when Ben was talking to Jack about doubting Thomas and needing to see and touch to believe that Christ had risen from the dead. Jack is doubting Thomas and needs proof. I'm sure we'll see some scene unfold with Jack encountering both Locke and Christian on the island sometime soon.

We did see Locke writing the suicide note and putting it in his pocket before he climbed up on the table. What's interesting is that most people can't die if the "island isn't finished with them yet" (for example, Michael), but Locke had to die and clearly the island wasn't/isn't finished with him.

My heart just broke for Locke when people called him a lonely old man and then when he climbed down from the noose and was crying with his head in his hands. I thought Terry O'Quinn did an awesome job this week (he's always great, but he was heart-wrenching in this episode).

Ben is evil. He's just evil, evil, evil. He is the the antagonist and Jack and Locke are the protagonists and function as ying and yang, Man of Science, Man of Faith. They need each other to overcome Ben and evil-to-the-coreness.

FYI- I think tonight is a rerun of The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham. No new episode until next week.

According to my DVR they are rerunning last week's episode at 7PM (central time) and the new one at 8PM. I think it's a Sawyer episode. But next week (3/11) seems to be a rerun week.

Oops, you're right. LeFleur is the episode airing tonight and I think last week's episode will rerun next week.

me too luv2shop - I think this season is amazing. I also think though that if you have not watched the show from the begining season there is no way this show would make any sense at all - it was kinda how alias was in the final season.

OMG. For me, that's the most annoying part and has no contribution whatsoever to the greater storyline. I'm over that storyline. Plus it's so stupid- Sawyer and Kate had a little fling when they spent 108 days together on the island. Sawyer has been with Juliet for quite a while now, it seems (certainly longer than 108 days). And of course, Jack and Kate were together off the island. This storyline needs to die already! Sawyer should be with Juliet and Jack should be with Kate. Leave the love square drama to 90210 and other such shows.

Sorry for the rant, but this is just the one aspect of LOST that's driving me nuts. smile

NONONO! Sawyer needs to be with Kate, since they are both criminals. Jack needs to be with Juliet, since they are both doctors. See? It's quite obvious.

I'm in love with Sawyer, so I want him to stay single so I can have him ;)

In all seriousness (as serious as we can get talking 'bout a tv show) I hope he stays with Juliet. It would really annoy me if all of a sudden he up and leaves her after three years because of an unresolved days-long fling with Freckles.
