You can also stand with your feet half on a stair or step, and lift your body with the balls of your feet. It helps to have something to steady yourself with, obviously.
I had asked my personal trainer that question for a friend of mine (who hates her calves). Hers are muscular so it's very hard to get rid of them.
He said that she would go on a high carb diet to lose some of the muscle. It is very hard to do and it needs to be supervised by a professional. Sounds like it's not worth it if you just "found out" about your calves. Which means that they never bothered you before.
Muscular calves may be genetic, and there isn't much you can do about it. Certain sports will contribute, and so will improper form in ballet training. Cheerleading can do it also. Stretching, yoga, perhaps Pilates will help. You want to legnthen the muscle, not buld it.
Many women with skinny shapeless calves would love to have yours.
my sis has been doing pilates for a year now and we are the same size except she has broad shoulders and i have none. she looks so much smaller than me b/c her body has lengthened....is that a word? anyways, love your body, but that might help somewhat...
Thanks guys. I guess it's not that big of a deal. The only thing is that I like skirts that hit just below the knee and cropped pants. I hope that doesn't make me worse..
