Is anyone going to watch this tonight?  I love the original (BBC), and the remake is actually getting good reviews!  I'm really hoping it lives up to them

Its on NBC tonight at 9:30pm.

I have not decided yet. I LOVE the British version, but I am nervous that the US one is going to suck. I don't have a lot of faith after NBC tried to make Coupling for the US- that is a great British show and sucked on NBC.

I thought it was pretty good. I haven't completely formed an opinion yet, but it was VERY close to the British version. The office supplies in the Jello molds cracked me up!

Mara, which one is your friend?

yeah, mara, who is your friend? (before i tear into any of the actors...)

overall, though i love steve carrell, his david brent isn't the same. ricky gervais wasn't just annoying and mean, he desperately wanted to be liked. that's key to the show. otherwise it's just another nasty boss show. i miss the rod stewart theme song. it leant a sadness to the beginning of each episode.

I was expecting it to be better, but I will give it another chance.

Yeah.  It was ok... I'm hoping it will get better!  It was kinda eery hearing the same exact lines at certain points too.

i agree, mizzle, steve carrell is funny but the british version seems to have more heart - in a weird way.  ricky gervais is hard to beat as the unwittingly caddish boss.  the show is better than most stuff on tv but the first episode definitely falls short of the british version.  i think they are trying to replicate it too closely and it falls a bit flat

mara, your friend is very cute!  wow, he has a pretty big role, too.  i thought he did a good job.
