You'd better sit down for this. I came across some terrible news today that has sent me into shelter-mag mourning. Condé Nast has decided to fold its prize decorating magazine, Domino, just two weeks after sending in Senior Vice President Bill Wackermann to increase ad sales. The shelter category has seen the close of O at Home, Home, Cottage Living, and Wish this year alone, and last year we said goodbye to long-running title House and Garden and beloved newbie Blueprint. Seeing as we all named Domino as our favorite shelter magazine of 2008, this is a sad day for all of us. Hopefully, the magazine will live on in some format or another, but regardless, I'm stashing my issues away for safe-keeping.
I'm so sad to hear this. I'm not a subscriber, but I loved flipping through it at Borders - it was one of the best home magazines imo. I'll miss all the eye candy in there.
I heard about this too. Sad. As much as domino was starting to irk me, I still really liked it and enjoyed getting it in the mail every month. What's a good alternative? What's everyone else going to subscribe to?
I liked some of the stuff they showed in it, but to me it was always the same style which definitely wasn't my taste of decorating. Probably why it's going. Didn't have enough variety.
Sad! I liked this magazine. So many magazines have folded over the past several years. I realize that's the way the industry is, but it seems excessive lately.
no! don't tell me this! just last month i had to deal with the demise of cottage living, and now domino??!?! i've been a domino subscriber since day one, and i love it. :(
R.I.P. domino

It's funny, right after I heard about this on Wednesday I received a subscription renewal letter from them in the mail. I wonder how many people renewed not having heard this announcement.
Everything is going on-line. That's where all businesses are focusing their marketing/advertising efforts these days. I think there will always be some print, but only for those publications that are the cream of the crop in subscriptions.

The editors who blogged on the site have all given their farewells so I wonder what will become of the site if they aren't adding new content. There are a few people on their forums I'd really miss if they closed the boards down.

Although it's primarily a fashion site, a lot of the members are into home decor. In fact the site users named Domino their favorite home mag last year. I am a regular on that site and we talk about room redos and shopping for home goods a lot."

Hope that's okay.
It's absolutely okay. I'm sure everyone is looking foward to having new members!
Thanks so much for mentioning us
