Ah...worked for a company purchased by KKR (Kohlberg...etc.). Anyway, they have a reputation of being the prime "corporate raider". Recently they have focused on building companies (true investment), but they are quick to shed underperforming aspects of a business and they are very focused on cost-cutting, so I would start looking. They pushed many major layoffs at my old company (I had to help lay the people off). We let go of 25% of our workforce in one year. I think that about 15% needed to go, but the other 10% was just aggressive policy.
