I decided that I would split my tax return 4 ways equally between my student loan, 2 savings accounts, and fun spending money for myself. Well, I went clothes shopping on Saturday and I just totalled my receipts and I actually spent 70% of my tax return on clothes instead of my allotted 25%. Plus I spent $250 from my paycheck. And I didn't even get a new bag which was really at the top of my list of things I need.
I am so bad when I get extra money as a gift, tax return, or bonus. I always have such a great plan for it and then I end up spending it on shopping. And I don't even feel like I bought that much. Oh well. At least I can put the remaining 30% into savings and towards my loan, right?
I'm so afraid to do my taxes because in the past 2 years I've gone from getting around $1000 back to owing $100! I hope I don't owe a lot more this year.
Can you return some of it? If it doesn't even sound like you got that much, then maybe you're better off taking it back and buying a few things you really love.

That's what I would do... take a good look at the stuff you have bought and decide if you really want it or if you just bought them becuase you knew you had the extra cash!

I think the problem IS that I got a few things I really loved (that were kind of expensive) and that is why I don't feel that I got that much. Hmm...but would I have been better off buying a bunch of cheaper mediocre things? I don't know. Shopping is so stressful sometimes.
I definitely don't want to take anything back! I just want to buy more stuff and don't have the money to do so!
If all else fails, justify your purchases with a Becky Bloomwood-esque "They'll call me 'the girl in the grey sweater/coral bag/fabulous silver shoes'".
