what?????? i am still in shock that they kicked off BRITA! and i know it is all because they thought at 25 she couldn't lose the weight... i can't remember her name but 2 episodes they kept a girl up until the last 3 and she never took a good picture!!!!!!!!! grrrrrr
when i first watched it i was pissed b/c brandy's attitude was awful and she really did deserve to go. but after thinking about it, i actually kind of agree with their decision. if they're looking for someone to model then one of the most important thing should be how she looks in photos, and i think ultimately they felt that brandy had more potential than brita did. (brita's pics weren't that great). so i can kind of understand their decision.
I was appalled - not taking good pictures is not reason enough at this early stage, they didn't even show the topless pictures after their makeovers. And others had bad pixs too, it was totally about her weight. What kind of message does this send? They wonder why girls that want to model are anorexic / belimic, DUH - last season the girl on the verge of a disorder - the designer told her her hips were too big. All the calls she went on they told her not to come back unless she lost 2 inches from her hips - THIS WAS A SKINNY GIRL!!!!!!!! You ladies on this board are so supportive of us ladies that are larger sizes (as in 10 or 12, not even "bigger") and I SO appreciate that. But I agree, they weighed & measured them & she was out. Period. If there were no other borderline people, i really wouldn't care as much, but the photographer himself said that he hated working with her Brandy & she was a diva before she was even successful, what a huge mistake.
Sorry to be on my soap box, but this is truly a sore point for me. I am older now and don't give a flip about how others feel about my weight anymore, but in my 20s - early 20s specifically, i was very sensitive about it & didn't even get to enjoy my skinny years!!!! LOL

I liked Brita too, but she is 25 and it would be hard for her to make it now.
This show is starting to bother me. I know the producers want to make good tv, but a lot of the girls they picked aren't that tall, pretty, and don't seem like model material. I'm sure they all have interesting personalities that will make for good tv, but I really doubt some of them will be accepted as high fashion models. And I know for taping reasons they have to be 18, but it would be more realistic if they were in their early teens. Honestly, do you see Eva modeling haute couture? Adrian really hasn't done much excluding that show on VH1. I do love Yowana though... she's gorgeous and could model anything. I have a little different perspective on the modeling industry though... my brother modeled in Milan and is now working on stuff back in the states (yeah, the boy got the better genes) and the industry can be really brutal for lots of girls.
I thought it was a bad decision to let Brita go and keep Brandy but it was entirely a production driven decision. If it was based on pictures alone Lluvy and Brita would have been the bottom two. I think they're keeping Brandy around for the drama but I think it looks bad because Brandy is very young as well and it seems like she just wants to be a whiny little kid.

the real purpose of this show is for the wise and experienced miss tyra banks (sometimes with mom!) to teach young skinny girls lessons about life. who cares about how the actual models look or photograph? all she cares about is teaching them that you have to be strong! and respectful! and that modeling is REAL, TOUGH work. so brita doesn't really offer much of a blank slate--she's 25, gorgeous, no eating disorder. so she got tossed for one bad picture. but brandy... ooh, perfect! tyra can be the mom and say "so what did we learn this week, brandy?" "to be respectful, tyra." they're going to keep her around for a while. maybe SUV is off next?
anyway... what's up with the preview of next week? what do you think wrestler girl's big secret is? and did that "call 911!!" thing look fake or was it just me? it looked less like someone fainted and more like there was a raccoon loose in the studio.

Oh my gosh that is hilarious. It was like "oh the drama of it all!"
You're right about big mama Ty. Brandy's presence helps Tyra solidify her position as the savior of "ghetto girls gone wild". I think it gives people who watch the show a reason to use the word "ghetto" and think they actually know what it means. Because naturally it means Brandy must be ghetto because she has a bad attitude and not just "she has a bad attitude".

Oh my gosh, I hope I didn't offend you or anyone else with my use of "ghetto" in my post!!! If so, I am truly sorry!
And I wonder if the whole 911 thing is someone having a seizure?!?
i did some research and it was Ann in last season who took bad pictures all the way through but ended up being in the top three with eva and yaya. remember? and to think they had the audacity of taking brita off because she didn't take one good picture...

Oh gosh of course you didn't!! I didn't even notice you said it. I said that because that's how it seems to me when I hear people say it at work and so forth it makes me know that that has to be the intention of the show, to make certain people look ghetto. See now I hope I didn't offend you

Oh MY GOSH. I don't watch ANTM but my friend used to date a girl named Brita, she is 25 now (my age). Do you know where this girl is from? Or where she went to school?
