totally confused about Oscar times in CA.

So some people are telling me that there's a delay in the broadcast of the Oscars here in San Diego.  Our hotel has signs in the lobby saying something about 8 pm.  BUT I am watching the red carpet live right now, and both the ABC site and the Oscars site show a live broadcast at 5:00.  What gives?!  Are they doing it live AND rebroadcasting at 8:00?  Or just at 5:00 or just at 8? Cali girls, help me out.  TIA!

Well, dc, I'm not in Cali now, but I grew up there and the Oscars were ALWAYS live.  They're live here in AZ at 6:30, so they should be live in S.D. @ 5:30.
