I am curious as to how people's parties are determining this election. It is said that like 75% of the vote can be predicted based on what a person's registered party is. Personally, I am a registered Republican but find myself voting democratic lately.
So what has been your pattern? Are you crossing over? Why?
Honestly, I have no idea how I'm registered. I think I'm registered as a Democrat, but when I was 18 I was pretty on the fence so I'm not positive which I chose.
I don't always vote Democrat, but if we're just talking presidents then I do (Kerry was the first president I could vote for)

I am a registered Democrat but I'm really all over the charts in terms of issues, and I have supported high-level candidates from both parties. I voted for Kerry in 2004 and am voting third party this year.
None of the above. I'm registered in a third party (which is more like a fourth or fifth party). I voted for an independent/nonpartisan candidate in 2004 and I will be voting third party this year, though not my own party, so I guess technically that bucks the conventional wisdom.
I've never voted for a Republican or a Democrat in a presidential election, and this will be my fifth? I think.
I have always voted Democrat for President, but that is based on the fact that the candidates that were running for President on the Democratic side were the ones that supported the causes that I feel the strongest about: Clinton, Gore, Kerry, and now Obama. (Wow, this is my 4th presidential election: time flies, huh?!)
As for local elections in IL and Chicago I have voted for candidates from both parties. Our politics in this state and city are pretty corrupt so I find it harder to pledge allegiance to one side over the other. I didn't find that to be the case when I was still a resident of Michigan although my family says that politics in Michigan are getting a bit more hinky these days.

I did not get to vote in the last presidential election due to moving and resulting address issues that were found out too late. I'm also registered in a third party, but will be voting for Obama.
We also have interesting state politics - a great portion of our state is pretty moderate, and our candidates usually end up being that way too. Because of it many people cross over from their party when voting locally, and the line between parties isn't so defined. I'm voting a mix of democrat and republican in this years local elections, but haven't technically made it that far yet because we have a ton of measures up too - the explanations had to be put into two books this year!

Interesting results! Looks like a 20% "cross over" which proves the 75% loyalty to be dead on. Keep voting ladies! Even if you don't want to elaborate.
