Anyone have a Wii?
Permalink Closed

I just picked one up for my girls for Christmas.  I haven't purchased any games yet, as I have no clue what to buy.  They are 5 and 8 (by Christmas).  I want to get them one game to start off with.  Any recs?  ALSO, I want a game for dh and I, which most of you might be more help with.  What games do you find fun?  And if you don't have one, do you know which games seem to be most popular?

Thanks!

Everyone that I know from ages 5 to 50 loves the sports package. I would definitely pick that one up. Your girls will especially likethat they can make their own little Wii characters for every time they play.

For you & DH I'd recommend Guitar Hero. I love that game - it's addictive!

I second that. My kids love MarioKart on their DSs and would like it on the Wii, too.

I love this game called Boom Blocks and I think it would be great for your girls. Its almost like Jenga (remember that game with the blocks?) except you can knock down the block towers by throwing balls. Its addictively fun.

We have a Wii. Definitely Mario Cart and Wii Sports. We also have Zelda and Pirates of the Caribbean, which are both fun. There's also a game (I forget what it's called) where you can play all the old school Nintendo games like the original Super Mario Bros.

Thanks!  I'm so excited to open it.  I'm sure the hubby and I will get a lot of use out of it too!

Question... Wii Sports is what's already embedded onto the system, right?  We've played that before and had a blast.  Other than that, I think Mario Cart for the girls, and I need the old school Super Mario Bros., because hubby and I played that against each other in high school.  I was the champion then and will be again I'm sure!

There are some basic WII sports (golf and boxing) but you don't get the fitness board and the package that includes Yoga, Aerobics and Strength training.  This package is a lot of fun and really works - I've seen it at Costco for $75.

I forget how old your girls are, but both my girls, even the little one, enjoy Wii Music.

Me too!  I bought a PS3 last year since they were widely available.  Should have waited it out to get a Wii.

Also, I got a PSP for Christmas last year and what a waste of money.  There are hardly any games to buy for it.  Best Buy has a tiny, tiny, section for it.  Oh how I wished I went for the Nintedo DS instead!

The box is sitting up on top of my closet and it's killing me not to open it!  Hubby says we should "test" it after they go to bed, but I'd feel bad!

Anyone know the name of the cartridge that has the old Super Mario Bros. on it?  I can't seem to find it, and I think I'm going to get that for DH for Christmas.  What I'd LOVE to find, though, is Donkey Kong.  Or Frogger.  Ahhh... the good old days!

I'd like to get that too but haven't found the right one yet...there are a lot of Mario games. We love the sports package and I asked for Mariokart for wii and/or my DS. I really want a Wii fit so I can do the snowboarding games (and the fitness stuff too of course). I love the Wii biggrin
