I don't always listen to music when I'm going to bed but when I do I often try to put on something kind of boring that I would never normally listen to because if I play music that I love, I'll be too distracted and will never fall asleep.
The only song I can think of now that I don't like but listen to when I'm going to sleep is Transatlanticism by Death Cab which I choose because it's really long and I find it kind of boring yet soothing.
Bedtime music that I like: Time After Time - Willy Nelson Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley Spiderland - Slint My Bloody Valentine most Will Oldham stuff
I think I lost my "sleep" playlist and I can't remember what else was on it.
Lately I've had trouble falling asleep or calming my nerves so I put on the Hot Club of San Francisco "Claire de Lune."
The Hot Club of San Francisco was at my school last fall. They're a gypsy swing jazz group and sooo good. I had to write a report on them for a music appreciation class and they were amazing.
maddie, it seems like we like a lot of the same music. here's my sleep-time list. i also like to put on the "magnolia" soundtrack (all aimee mann songs) when trying to relax on planes. works well.

I really love this song and think it is way better than the original Leonard Cohen version. As much as I love Cohen I often prefer covers of his songs.
I don't necessarily listen to them before going to sleep, but Zero 7's music is really chill and relaxing.
RyanJ - I used to listen to Op Ivy and Rancid nonstop; I rarely ever find anyone who also likes their music! So cool! I'm also a big fan of All Night Long.

I was listening to my mp3 player on the way home the night we posted about Cohen and his version of Hallelujah came on and yeah...the Buckley version is much better. Cohen's voice is just so overpowering and I don't usually like the arrangements of his songs.
Another Op Ivy and Rancid fan here. Listened to them all the time in high school.

I am the weirdy in my group of friends. They are always listening to whatever MTV is currently playing. They HATE riding w/ me because I bust out my Op Ivy and all the girls hate it. Whenever I find somenoe who listens or at least is familar w/ the music I listen to I get so excited.
