I like the Urban Outfitters curtains better than the solid. Depends on what style you're going for though. I have a similar post regarding my own window treatment problem posted now so yours caught my eye.

I wouldn't think that the background color blending in would deter me from thinking they work, IMHO. Are the curtains for privacy or just decorative?

since you already have large expanses of solid browns, I would try to integrate some pattern to tie your accent colors into the room.

I think the urban panels would look nice, but again, what kind of look are you going for?

I also think red panels with a thick yellow border at the bottom topped by a thinner brown stripe to separate the yellow and red would look nice (you could sew that on or get stitch witchery (or whatever it's called) and iron on the contrasting fabrics.

I would also stay away from bright yellow. A deep ochre would look best with red and brown.

The curtains are pretty much decorative and I was thinking that I should do a pattern since everything else is just solid. I haven't totally pinpointed a style that I'm going for in the living room, but I like a contemporary style. However, I'm drawn to all of these "girly"/feminine things too.
My main issue is if I do pattern on the window, how do I tie things together and not go overboard when I get pillows and a rug.
The only reason I choose yellow as an accent color is because I bought a lamp with a yellow base, but it's small enough to not really consider that as an accent.

I love the first curtains from UO. I covet them, but have nowhere to use them.

I think when you add in other patterns, you want to repeat colors (so other prints with at ivory, red, brown/black or just ivory/red or red/black). Then look for patterns that are either larger or smaller so there's enough contrast.

You can also use textured fabrics to keep them distinct. Here's some various prints...I think they mostly/all look good together.

If you can sew or do some fancy stuff with iron-on fabric adhesive, I like the idea of a wide, deep-red border around the printed panel. Or extending/replacing the bottom 18 inches or so with a red silk shantung ...

While I like the pattern, I'd also keep in mind that curtains aren't terribly cheap to replace if you tire of them, so if you wanted to change your accent colors or get a different feel in your room in a couple years that may be more difficult than if you had a solid. That said, even though the print is floral, I think because it's very organic feeling and has a sculptural quality to it that it would be pretty versatile in the long run. It could work with alot of different design styles IMO, so nice choice!
