Has anyone seen this yet?? Is it ok that this excites me very much?? I know it's going to be geared towards high school girls, but hey, isn't Gossip Girl and 90210 and EVERY SINGLE OTHER teen drama that I adore?? I can't wait!
Carrie Bradshaw: The High School Years Wed, Sep 17, 2008, 10:58 am PDT
Ever wonder what Carrie Bradshaw was like as a teen? The Kobal Collection/WireImage.com "Sex and the City" was definitely not created with teens in mind, but somehow the TV series about a group of single women in their 30s living in Manhattan became popular with teenage girls anyway. Even Miley Cyrus admitted she was a huge fan of the show -- the cleaned-up TBS version that is.
Now "Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell has inked a deal with HarperCollins to write a couple of young adult novels about Carrie Bradshaw's high school years called "The Carrie Diaries." According to the book's publishers, Alessandra Balzer and Donna Bray, the books will take "readers back to Carrie Bradshaw's formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie's friendships, romances, and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer."
Balzer tells the New York Observer that the novels will be set in New York, as well as in whatever suburb Carrie supposedly spent her childhood. "I think [Carrie will] ... hang out in the city on the weekend, and have a lot of social interaction there," notes Balzer. "And then eventually she'll come to college [in New York], as Candace did."
In a statement released by HarperCollins, Bushnell adds, "Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd -- she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene."
Although "The Carrie Diaries" may be aimed at young adults, I have a feeling many older fans of the show will be buying copies as well. I know I can't wait to find out more about Carrie! Can you?
While I love SATC, I just don't think that I would get into these. That is based on the fact that I haven't liked any of Candice Bushnell's actual books. I even thought that the SATC book wasn't that great. I'm sure that tons of the girls around whatever school I will be teaching at will be toting them though.

I have to agree with Farrah. I think Candice Bushnell is a crappy author. I've never liked a single book she's written. SATC the book was not good, and Trading Up was one of the worst books I've ever opened...I couldn't even get through it.
I am excited! I still watch my DVD's of SATC all the time - LOVE it! I haven't gotten the movie yet but plan to over the weekend! I was thinking of Carrie Bradshaw today (as if she is my BFF and a real person - LOL) when I watched a cool video about shoes on L Studio called "The High Heel" - http://lstudio.lexus.com/#vid847 - every shoe lover must see this, very SATC!
They sound fun, but having read Candace Bushnell and absolutely hating her books (well, SATC was okay, but Trading Up and 4 Blondes were horrible), I will not even waste my time with these.
I agree. Her books are hard to follow. And kinda bad lol. But I LOVELOVELOVE SATC and am diggin Lipstick Jungle(the show not the book). So I may buy one just to see if the books have improved, otherwise I'll pass.
