dumb eliptical question

i just started using an elliptical at my gym, i think it's a lecor, something like that, and ive been measuring distance. i'm thinking the machine measures distance in laps? but i'm not sure. does anyone know?

If it is a Precor elliptical, it is most likely measuring in miles - so .25 is a quarter of a mile, etc. I've never seen one do anything other than fractions of a mile.

Same here.  It also does it by strides taken, too, I think.
