I am only 1 year into my plan and I want to get a different phone. I hate the one I have and am willing to eat the cost of getting a new phone. I'm going to pay full retail according to verizon. can I buy a phone somewhere else and then set it up with Verizon? If so, where is a good, reputable place to look for phones? THanks!

Hmmm.....my husband bought an new unlocked Palm Treo on ebay and just put his SIM card into it. The guy accepted returns within 30 days. My husband is pretty happy with his. You have to make sure it's unlocked though.

If you have a Best Buy near you go there. I actually work in the cell phone department there and we allow one year upgrades for Verizon or Sprint. You save a lot then by buying the phone outright.

You can always buy one of those pay as you go phones and activate it to your account.
