I am by no means fat but i would like to tone up a little. I keep trying to go to the gym but i cant seem to get there. I always find something else to do instead. How do you guys get motivated to go. I really dont want to go with friends. I would like to go by myself a little at first until I get back to where i use to be and then i will go with friends.

For me, these tips helped immensely when I started. And trust me, I spent 5 years finding excuses not to go to the gym.
1. Hire a personal trainer. That's how I got motivated at first, the thought that someone is waiting for you at the gym forces you to go. Plus he/she can show you how to properly use the machines and set up a good workout.
2. Get a Heart Rate Monitor (www.polarusa.com). Knowing that I am within the fat burning zone (and not out of breath) motivates me to go longer. I used to do 30 min cardio and hated every minute, now I do 45 min - 60 min.
3. Try classes. They are a lot of fun! I love spinning, kickboxing, body sculpt and hip-hop. You end up burning 500+ calories and having a great time.
Then once you get into the rhythm you will find that you look forward to going everyday.
