I want to know how many of you agree on only one baby shower or if its okay to have more when you get pregnant in the future.

I said yes because typically, you don't hold your own shower.  That would mean it is beyond your control if more than one is held.

Also, I kind of like the idea of it.  I like anything that brings together a bunch of people that wouldn't get together if something structured wasn't planned.  As I get older, I find that it is more and more rare to get a bunch of your friends together all on the same day.  I love showers and parties.

I said no.. just bc I think that no matter the sex, some things will be reuseable. I also think of the purpose of a shower is to help a stressed out, first time mom-to-be, get the things she will need.

Yes.  Sure baby things are reusable, but some things can become outdated, like carseats and cribs are constantly being updated to safety standards.  And those of us who have babies know that baby clothes wear out fast because you have to wash them all the time in hot water to remove stains and odors too.  And why would you refuse if you have friends who want to throw you a shower for your next baby?

It depends on your definition of "shower" - I am all for second, third etc. babies being celebrated and welcomed, but if shower means "get together where everybody gets fairly costly gifts" then no.

I voted yes because I don't think it is fair for the second child to always have to have hand-me-downs and I agree, it is someone else that is throwing the party in your honor.  I think people that feel obligated to give expensive gifts self inflict that, you can get way cute things at Target or Old Navy really inexpensive.

I say it depends. The teachers at school just threw a baby shower for another teacher who's having her second girl in 2 years...it was a surprise and she had no idea, though, so it was totally cute and fine.

My SIL, though, basically planned her own (second) baby shower. It got cancelled, actually...no one showed up But really -- she'd just had her first the year before.
