why does my doctor have to be out?

She's on maternity leave, the nerve!
anyways, last night I keep rubbing my left eye, it was itchy and bothering me. I think I hurt it cause when I would change diapers or put my head down I would feel pressure on my eye, it hurt.
So this morning I wake up with it really hurting and its also swollen on the bottom towards where you tears would come out. It hurts when I blink!
So my doctors not in, the nurse assistant is off today and I really dont want to go to Urgent care with my 2year old.
My mom says its probably an infection and that she has some vaseline like medicince for it at her house. She says she always used it on us growing up. you know us hispanics with our own remedies!

Anything like this happen to any of you?

It sounds like your tear duct may be blocked.  Definitely go to the doc, but you could probably wait a day or so until you could get in at your reg. docs office.

this has happened to me before and one time it was a sty (eye makeup left overnight) and another time it was an infection.. in any case, both times that i saw my dr. he recommended putting warm compresses on it to open up the pores.. this should help you for a little while.

If my tear duct was closed, I'm guessing no tears would be able to come out right? I just watched yesterday's Oprah and I was crying and tears were coming out both my eyes.

Monica- I haven't been wearing make-up so I know its nothing to do with that. Its been really windy the last 3 days so maybe something in the air? Whatever, .... I'm going to urgent care once I find a sitter for my boys. I hope it goes away soon cause I'm a la la when it comes to pain and I dont want to keep wearing my glassess, I look like a dork!

Okay, I ended up going to urgent care and what it is is a Stye infection.
So I went and bought some stuff at Waglgreen's thats they sale thats called Stye. I've heard that that will work.
I'm also putting a hot egg on my eye!
Sounds funny but its better than running hot water on a cloth constantly. An eggs heat lasts longer :)

Monica- is that all you did was put warm pressure on it? How long did it take to go away?
