Your boyfriend, who you totally love, knows you have been saving up for a new Gucci bag. One day, he comes back from NYC and is like, "I found someone selling these Gucci bags for $50 on a folding table on the sidewalk." He then give you an obviously fake bag and he seems so proud of himself. What do you do?
I would carry it and not care. My bf knows that street vendors sell fakes just because we have it here at home but if he bought it because he knew I really wanted it and did it out of love I wouldn't give a flip.
I could not pick one of the above choices. Here is what I would do:
I would let him know that it is fake because:
A. He might buy you another "real" bag on the street again. and
B. I believe in total honesty in a relationship.
BUT...I would also let him know how much it meant to you that he bought it. Then....if you can't bare to carry it everywhere, carry it at least a few times around him so that his ego is not bruised.
Ha, ha, ha! My bf bought me a "gucci" purse once. He was so excited, it was cute! He found it at a vintage store and thought it was real. So not only is it fake, but it's a used, old fake! I like vintage/thrift store stuff anyway, so it's not so bad, but the purse is covered in logos - a bit much for me. It's the thought that counts. I've worn it 2x when I've been out with him. Forgot to add: I did tell him it was fake and said it wasn't a big deal to me. (it really isn't)
Oy that is a tough one umm yeah i have had this happen with my mom buying me a bag and my sister did it too. For my sister she bought each of her bridesmaid a kate spade bag turns out she was one short so she got me a different bag at cache so I was spared otherwise I try to wear it out once or twice to like the movies where it is dark.
a week ago when i first read this post i had a totally different response. but this past weekend when i went home my mom had a fake lv (it was a gift from one of her friends who is a really nice lady). my first instinct was to say "you can't walk around with me carrying a fake bag" but it just seemed so bitchy. plus in the grand scheme of things it's really not that big of a deal. it became an inside joke b/t us every time someone would compliment her on her bag.
I had an ex buy me a fake once...it was back in the day, a kate spade fake. He was so proud...so I was like "awww thanks!" then I just put in in the back of the closet and never wore it...so much for honesty, he was so proud though! I didn't have the heart to crush him...he eventually bought me *real* purses, so it was all good. :)
