advice needed for internal job

so i had a job interview today internally for a different brand for merchandising (instead of production that i do now). it went pretty well, i think.. they want me to interview for a position as a merchandiser (and not a jr. which is exciting)

in any case.. should i send a thank you email to the HR woman that I interviewed with? i'm not sure if the 'rules' of interviewing are the same when it's an internal position.

I would absolutely send the 'thank you' email.  Your wording might be a little different since it's an internal position, but IMO it would still be a good idea to thank her for her time and interest in you as a candidate for the position .  Good luck!

i agree--you should definitely e-mail her to thank her.  you should always err on the side of being too polite, as that is how people will remember you.  you could even handwrite a little note and throw it in the mail to her from your home, if you really want to be impressive.

Definitely a thank you - and definitely handwritten. I don't think it has to be postmarked, especially since ideally she should have the thank you the day after the interview, though.

thank you ladies.. i did send her a thank you yesterday. unfortunately it wasn't hand-written b/c our internal mail is a bit slow and i didn't know when she'd get it.

i hope i have good news in a few weeks!!
