Where do you get your contacts?
Permalink Closed

EVERY time I try to re-order my contacts, something has to happen in order to prevent that (computer goes down, they didn't order it, the people didn't ship on time, etc.). They might give me free sample contacts to buy time if they have them in stock, but I don't really feel like going out of my way and dealing with this crap yet another time.

I wanted to know where you girls get your contacts. So that I don't ever have to suffer with the imbeciles at LensCrafters who are probably overcharging me anyway...

(BTW, I wear Encore/Vertex Toric lenses)

I just bought a 6 month supply of disposable contacts, $80 at my eye doctor's.  He has a private practice and we've been going to him for so many years.  I called in and they were ready the next day to go pick up.

I really love it. It takes 2-3 days to recieve them. The shipping is free and they will refund you the money for an upopened contacts. I ordered the wrong contacts and put one in my eye and realized it was wrong. I sent back the 5 remaing contacts and they refunded my money.

I got a 6-month supply of daily disposable lenses @ Sears Optical for only $50 (after insurance).  Since I only wear my lenses 2-3x/week, my supply lasted me 1 year.

I get half a year's supply at my doctor's office and half from 800 contacts.  My insurance only gives me enough money to buy 6 mos. worth of contacts a year and they have to be bought at a doctor's office.  I buy the rest at 800-contacts because they are cheaper.  You can do it online or call them on the phone.  They will verify your prescription with your eye doctor for you.  They have free shipping and great customer service.  I called them once because 2 of my contacts from the last order had ripped.  They sent me some new ones free of charge and sent me a handwritten card apologizing and included a $5 gift certificate.

So all you did was call and tell them that your contacts ripped? This happens to me once in a while, but I never called. I just figured I was being too rough w/ them.

I have no eye insurance and since I'm a Sam's club member I go to JCPenney for my eye exam and it only costs $50 when its normally $75-$80 for eye exams. Then I pick up my contacts from Sam's club and only pay $20 for 6 months supply, they are bi-weeklys.

Yup.  I used to just let it go when I had the contacts that you were supposed to wear for 2 weeks and throw out.  I've lost countless contacts this way.  When I switched to this new type that you are supposed to wear for a month and then throw out, one ripped right away and the one I replaced it with ripped a week later.  So, that was 2 months of contacts GONE in less than 2 weeks.  And they were both for my left eye (I have different prescriptions in each eye).  So, I called them and asked what I should do (I didn't really think it was their fault-more like the manufacturer's fault for making crappy contacts) and they sent me new ones.  After my 6 months supply ran out, I switched back to my original ones (Acuvue II).
