i'm no english expert (hence the earlier post). i've heard well read, but i've never heard of well -written. i would think that the proper way to say it would be written well, with well being an adverb (or something like that.)
You can say that a paper or book is well written. I don't it should be used to describe a person because that would be like saying that person was written, so it wouldn't make sense unless you were talking about a character in a book or something. I'm not an english expert either, but I have a professor for a father who tried to beat some grammar into me when I was growing up.
Yes, it is. But not if you are referring to the fact that you can write well. It is an adjective that refers to a person as knowledgeable about literature and having read alot of books
I can't find "well written" at http://www.m-w.com, so I would guess it's not a word.
"well read" is in there, but the definition of that is what NylaBelle is saying: "refers to a person as knowledgeable about literature and having read alot of books"

Actually, I looked well-written up on dictionary.com and that's the answer I got. So, it is a word according to the dictionary.
