Apparently they're great reads. I haven't read them, but a couple of days ago our 15 year old babysitter convinced my husband to read it, and he can't put it down. He said, "It's like Buffy, but on paper, and with no demon slaying." He bought the second book last night, and he's planning on going to B&N on Friday for the release of the new one.

And I have a friend who generally reads historical fiction, etc, and she read the Meyer books and said they were great as well. I'm in the middle of something else right now, but this is next on my list. I'm intrigued.

I've read the first one and I'm halfway done with the second. They're pretty good--definitely fun summer reading. They're very 14-year-old-romantic and they're totally PG, but the story is good. She's not the best writer in the world and I think the Harry Potter books are much, much better in terms of writing style and plots, but these are still quite enjoyable.

I just wanted to post again to say I totally agree with NCShopper. I just finished the second book, and although they aren't exceptionally well written, they're fast and fun, and very hard to put down.

omg I logged in here specifically to post up about this...I've been obsessed reading these this last week on breaks at work, during naptime and bedtime for the baby. I finished the final book earlier and I'm so sad now that it's over! I checked the website http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilightseries.html and read the preview for the companion book for twilight "midnight sun"  and cannot wait for it! although I don't know how long it will actually be hmm I keep thinking Edward's side will probably be even more interesting than Bella's...and I'm hoping it will make it feel like a whole book. I can't quite put my finger on it...even though they are very good they seem like at the end something is still missing and I'm not quite satisfied.

talk about quick reads... i read the first book in one day.  that's unheard of for me.  i'm halfway thru the 2nd. 

it is very PG, ( i think the writer is a devout mormon ) but i'm hooked. 

i hear there is a sexier version called black dagger brotherhood...  i'm not sure, it looks like it may be REALLY sexy

hmm I'll have to look for those thanks!

The 4th book does get less PG btw...the 4th book is different from the others IMO. I'm still trying to figure out what it is I don't like about these...it's like there's too many holes. Like she drew out the wrong things and left others unexplained maybe? I'm hoping after the companion book I don't feel let down like I did on the Harry Potter series hmm  When you are done post up with what you think...I know several people who are reading this but none of them are finished yet and I'm dying for someone else's opinion lol.

I do think this is a book I could reread already though...just to catch the stuff I missed the first time when I didn't know what was going on kinda thing.

I love these books! I'm on Breaking Dawn now, but so far I'm not feeling it as much as the other books. I still like Twilight the best.

they really do go quickly!  i'm now on the 3rd book.  luckyclover, give me a few more days, and i'll talk about it with you :)  is the 4th book the last one or will there be more?

Thanks Tara I'll be looking forward to it...it was really nice to read something that didn't have fuzzy pictures to feel on it! lol

The 4th is supposed to be the last in the saga. However, she leaves it open for more "adventures". I don't want to say more than that and spoil anything for you. Like I mentioned earlier though, she is at least half through writing a companion book that is Twilight from Edward's point of view. I'm hoping she does more of the series from his point of view...or includes more of it in that one book. I'd love to read the Volturi scene from his perspective. I'm wondering though from a response on her FAQ page if she will be writing stories from other perspectives too. I could see that happening. Guess we'll just wait and see lol.  If anyone is reading "The Host" which is also supposed to be good (I'll probably read it when me SIL is done with hers) the website also says there's supposed to be 2 more sequels to that at some point.

Last week at my student teaching orientation one of the teachers was gushing over the series so I decided to pick up Twilight and see what all the fuss was about. That was on Thursday after work...

I came home Friday to find my BF reading it (he had the day off) and he refused to put it down all weekend. We went to Borders on Sunday and he bought New Moon. He finished it yesterday and threw down the gauntlet to see who could finish it faster which was totally foolish on his part...I started it this morning and I am already on page 102. Did I mention that I did that this morning on the bus and at lunchwink.gif? HA!!

Anyway, he really liked the book. He said it was a bit cheesy, but it was a fun quick read after the deep government type novels he has been reading lately. So far I am totally hooked. Where was Edward when I was in high school? SWOON!!!

just finished the first one, totally enjoyable. a friend at work recommended it and I can't wait to go to work to talk about it! good grief, i never thought that would ever be the case ;)

i'm only like a quarter into the second one so i'll have to avoid this thread until i finish them all...

lol that's great that he loved them too! I'm going to start reading her other book now (which will also be a series) The Host anybody else read this one yet?

i'm going to read "the host"  i'm just not sure i'll like it as much.  honestly, reading those books was a pleasant surprise for me.  i thought that they would be to "young" for me.  it's not the greatest work of literature, but anything that can keep me entertained and let me read a book in one day ( twilight, and eclipse) is a good book to me.

i still have some questions for the other readers... (SPOILERS)

i'm an edward fan, i think his character is pretty much mr. perfect.  but he was a protector to bella throughout the 1st 3 books, and now that he has changed her, it's like he's not really "Edward" anymore.

i think the whole renesme thing was weird.  it's like the whole vampire thing was fictional but you could kind of see it, the werewolf thing was getting a bit more unbelievable, and then the writer smokes pot and you have this ridiculous baby in the mix.  it got too weird for me.  if the writer would have had edward change her, and have her go through normal vampire changes, and all that fun stuff, we could have had a few more books to read. 

i really disliked the way things went in breaking dawn.

LOL that cracked me up. I didn't have a prob with renesemee...it made more sense to me because of Edward's problem with taking her soul that somehow it would come to saving her life before she was changed. I thought it also fulfilled the whole "not missing anything human" too. I had already predicted a baby and Jacob imprinting on it when they brought up whichever one is was imprinting on the 2 year old but I still think it was a sort of wierd turn anyway.

I'm not expecting The Host to be as good either (how could it be...there's no Edward haha) but I need something else to read and maybe I'll get lucky and be surprised like I was with this one. biggrin
