I've never been to Greece and me and my fiance are planing to go there on our honeymoon. How is it? Have you been to Nikiti Island? (Thesaloniki) I need advice!!!!
I haven't been but it's on the top of the list for my hopeful next trip to Europe. I have a close friend from Thessaloniki, though, and she RAVES about it. She's obviously partisan but I've never spoken to anyone who visited Greece and came away disappointed. I mean, it looks like beautiful in pictures. Just stay away from Athens is the general advice...

It's great!! I think it's the most relaxed of the countries in that area. The prices are amazing considering you're still in Europe. I heard that things got a bit more pricey with the Olympics but hopefully that's calmed down by now. One of my good friends actually went there on her honeymoon. They rented a room in a villa right by the water. I saw the pictures and it looked amazing. I'll try and get the info. for you.
Greece is amazing! If you are going, you should only spend a couple of days in Athens before going out to the islands. We went to Santorini while we were there and it is such a striking island. The beaches were wonderful, the sunsets were amazing, I just can't say enough good things. I would love to go back. One thing though, we took the ferry from Athens to Santorini, but I would suggest packing some sea-sickness medicine if you are prone to getting sea sick or just flying from Athens to whichever island you want to visit. If you have the chance to go, you should totally go. In the summer it can get VERY crowded on the more popular islands, so that is something you might want to take into consideration. I don't know when your honeymoon is.
I have!!! I went to Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, and Paros! I loved it! Santorini was my favorite. It was so beautiful. I also really liked Athens because I found the city to be exciting and the ruins to be interesting. Mykonos I didn't like so much. The famous beach, Paradise Beach, was just awful. It was like an outside club with sleazy people and really, really loud music. The clubs were too fraternity like for me. I like to party, but Mykonos was just too much for me.
The food was great. The weather was beautiful. It was a great mix of an educational and fun trip.
I have driven throughout most of Greece - except for Thessaloniki. It really depends on what you want to see and do - I studied Greek archeology and mythology in college so Athens, Pelopennese and Crete were important for me to see (ruins, and items in museums) I have also been to Mykonos and Santorini. The eastern coast of Crete is perfect for a honeymoon - I stayed in Akti Oulous where there is a sunken city you can see just by walking next to the water - near Akti Oulous there is a really nice resort area in Elounda - huge honeymoon spot - gorgeous resort too - definitely worth looking into if you are seriously considering Greece.
Oh and I wouldn't suggest driving - they're freaking crazy there. When we were driving up the mountain to Delphi people would come barreling down around the corners in your lane (nothing but a cliff to the right of our car (no railing) and at every corner there were these clutters of weird cast iron and glass shrines for people who had been killed... slightly unnerving :) anyway - be very very careful if you are driving...
If you go to Crete, try to fly in... I have lengthy stories to tell about my boat ride from Crete to Athens - huge storm - took 12 hours with the boat (the size of a cruise ship being airborne periodically) was not fun...
