Email CoverLetter

Im not really good at writing cover letters but I have always had school to help me out. Now that I am out of school, I need help once again. A great job opportunity came up as a marketing director/event planner. I need to write an email cover letter I know they differ from a hard copy. I was wondering If anyone had any tips or what should be included. Thanks.

Also... This is something I have always wanted to do, I need a way to express that without sounding like a child. If anyone has any suggesstions that would be great...

Jackie,

Sorry, I just now noticed your post. Do you have anything drafted? I'd be happy to help you polish it up, if you do.

As far as what should be included, it's always good to speak directly to the skills and qualifications they mention in the job posting. Usually, I start out in the first paragraph with an overview of my skills (i.e. ten years as a marketing coordinator, or whatever) then in the second paragraph apply my experience specifically to their posting. At the end of the letter, you can something about your personal interest in the position. Have you worked in marketing or event planning before? If so, you can simply say that you really enjoy the challenges and daily work associated with event planning. If not, you can say that your past experience has, basically, pointed you in this direction and you are excited about the opportunity to work in a position that is such a great match for your experience and interests, etc.

HTH
