This is gonna sound like I made it up, because it cannot be real in any civilized Country...
I got a phone call yesterday.
I was supposed to start on the new job taday.
But - oh, there is a missing signature. From the president.
We don't know IF and we don't know When he is gonna put that signature.

Can you believe this? Actually I cannot.
I have passed 3 selections.
My name is on the list of people who are to be hired.
And he cannot put a f***ing signature?

I have no job right now, because his hand is too heavy to sign?

I feel like killing someone right now...

Aaaahh...administrative-level red tape... love it.

I interviewed for a position in November of one year and didn't start until February because of paperwork and administrators.

Sorry that you are on the short-end of the stick on this one.

Did you sign an offer letter with a start date?

It's ok. This will work out. They're probably just juggling their budget or something like that and trying to push back your start date for some reason. That's not a great sign - I mean you don't want to stay with a place that treats you like that. But it doesn't mean the job is going to disappear. My boyfriend had to wait five months after his original start date, for a security clearance.

Maybe it will make you feel better to get your resume out there again, though. Then it's not like you're just sitting there waiting for them to call you. Also maybe do something to make sure you won't run out of money while they're doing whatever it is they're up to.

well hey, are things better with your old boss? Can you finish whatever work you were doing on that one paper now? (I know it sucks to be at the old place when you were looking forward to moving on, but maybe that's a way to make the best use of this time?)

Yes, I can finish the article I still have to write - only, from home. I definitely cannot go back there and ask the guy to take me back, after the way he treated me the last days: one day he didn't show up at work to not see me, the other days he would tell things for me to my colleagues, who then had to tell me (again - 4 year old...)
I's also have to study for a public exam at the national council of research, but I am so demotivated, that I was barely able to print some stuff to study...

Money is not a pressing problem for now (of course cannot really go on vacation, but oh well...), it's just that the whole situation is frustrating.

Thanks girls
smile
