Another TIVO question....
Permalink Closed

I would like to eliminate my phone landline.  (I use my cellphone for all my calls and I use wireless for my computer.)  However, I know my TIVO gets connected to my phone line for updates or something.  Is there any other way for TIVO to get its updates - I really want to turn off my landline.....

TIA!

I know the website tivo.com had more info on that I remember reading a little something about it. Check it out.

This is the ONLY reason I keep my landline too! If anyone knows, please share...

no, you can't.  The satellite guy who came to install my tivo couldn't do it because I had no phone line where I wanted to put it.  Satellite TV companies say you need a phone line for their service (not true...you really just need it to order stuff on the TV and for them to check on what you're watching), but according to my satellite installation guy (who -- side note -- looked exactly like David Spade in Joe Dirt) Tivo needs it to function properly
