My PC just complete died!!!! It is fried out. I'm sooooo pissed off. I was working on my article for stylethread and lost everything!!!!!! Not to mention all the other files I lost b/c I couldn't save anything to disks or CD's. I am so mad. I'm using my beyond crappy laptop right now. I hate this thing! Now I have to scrape together the money for a new computer! I really want a MAC, but I can't afford one right now. I guess, I'll buy a Dell b/c I can get a reasonably priced one. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pissed does not begin to describe how I'm feeling.

Hey girl.  Is your bf techy savvy?  I mean if you are low on cash you can buy just the motherboard and a new processor for $300-$350 based on the website you buy from.  I mean it would save you some money and you would be able to still use your monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.

What all blew up in there?  Just the mb and processor?

I can get the name of a few sites for you later tonight if you are interested in rebuilding it.

No, LSU, my bf is not tech-savvy. I'm better than he is (he's lucky if he can get online!). I've been having issues with the computer anyway. The screen shakes, the mouse doesn't work properly and the sound hasn't worked in about a year. I hate that piece of crap. I'd rather just get a new computer instead of keeping the hunk of junk around.

Don't dispair. Apple just introduced a new $500 Mac. So that's not a huge investment if you've already got a monitor. I didn't do too much research on it, but it's small and plenty powerful. The only drawback I see is that you can't do a memory upgrade if you ever wanted to...and while it has an internal CD burner, you can't burn DVDs (but you can watch them). Anyway, take a look...

Hmm... sorry that's not an option.  You know they make emachines for around $300-400 and they are decent.  I've never heard of any problems with them.  It would be cheaper than a dell.  Circuit City and Best Buy carry them.

I feel your pain!

I'm using my old crappy laptop too, my beast of a dog's big wagging tail knocked a teeny glass of water onto my real laptop!

I have the think apart to dry out and think everything will be ok, but I'm giving it a few days to test it out.

Grrr...anyway, the computer is still dead. I have to buy a new one and I have to get a good one, too b/c of all of the graphic design and web design work that I will be doing on it. The MAC I want is too expensive for me to get right now, but I found a Dell that will work (and my mom gets a discount on Dell's b/c of where she works, so that's good). I hate unexpected purchases!! The microwave in our house just died, too (and it is only about two years old!). Grrrr

Hey girl.  Sorry about the string of bad luck.  I feel your pain.  I just lost the saphire ring my bf gave me 4 years ago last week!!!  It so sucks.  But I wanted to pass along that in the Sunday papers I saw a really awesome microwave.  You scan in bar codes on your food and it automatically cooks it according to package directions.  Its only $150 too.  Not too shabby.
