Im in Munich right now for the next 2 weeks. It was an unexpected trip so i didn't have time to plan anything. Im with my boyfriend but he is busy everyday from 8am-6pm. Looking for some suggestions on things I could do on my own. We are about 10 minutes outside the city center so I would be taking a train or some form of public transporation to get there.

On the weekends he may be free so we were thinking of going to the deutches museum and maybe a day trip to dachau. And we have already seen marienplatz

Any suggestions or recommendations for trips on my own and regarding the above points of interest as well as personal experiences in munich would be great!

I don't know how you feel about paying someone to show you around and explain the historical value of things, but I went on several good walking tours near there. I went on the Dachau tour stayed with the tour guide for a late lunch who had a friend who ran the company meet him for lunch and he offered me a free tour the next day for Hitler's Third Reich (not pleasant, but interesting) so I went free on that. I also went on a brewery tour, but that won't help you entertain yourself during the day, it was a night tour.

I assume you have walked extensively around the Marienplatz, that entertained me one day with the shopping and coffee shops.

I don't know if you like art but there was a good modern/contemporary art musuem within (a long) walk of the Marienplatz.

I went while it was pouring and cold, but now I bet the big gardens/park in Munich (sorry I don't remember the name...).

My biggest regret (my relatives being from southern germany) is not going to see one of the palaces more near the mountains. From what I understand they are all a quick day trip away, and that could be fun.

Hope that was at least a tad helpful.
