Sick of chicken
Permalink Closed

I am trying to eat healthier, however I don't like seafood and I love meat.

I have been eating tons of grilled chicken breast lately ( either on top of salad or as an entree with a side) but I am really sick of it.

What are some good recipes or meal suggestions with beef or pork that are on the healthy side?

We have pork chops when we get tired of chicken.  Buy the thick-cut ones w/out any bones, and cook them one the stove with a tiny bit of olive or vegetable oil.  I like to sprinkly a little cayenne pepper on them drizzle them with a tiny bit of honey during their last turn.

How about turkey breast cutlets? Or there are beef cuts which are lower in fat like London Broil sliced thinly.

Do you like shellfish? I detest fin fish but love shell fish!

I have come to realize that I hate chicken breast. Ew. I'm starting to see skinless boneless chicken tighs in the stores, which is kind of cool. I rather dark meat. Filet mignon is very lean, also. Eggs? (Oddly enough a fried or poached egg on top of a green salad is really good.) Rice and beans?

chicken is honestly my least favorite meat. i also find chicken breast to be so boring and dry... i do cook with it alot but it gets old fast.

i really like using ground turkey and ground buffalo meat! i also like lots of different kinds of fish. i also love lean beef and pork. i also love lean lamb cubes (kabob time!).

i mean sometimes i would after opt for vegetarian than chicken breast.

I second dot on the ground turkey suggestion. Its sooo good. One of my fave recipes is pasta w/turkey bolognese. Its amazing! One tip though, don't buy the ground turkey that says "white meat". Buy the kind that doesn't specify as its a mix... For some reason the white meat only one is tasteless.

I also am so over chicken- its so boring. I don't eat any red meat though so I eat mostly turkey, fish, and vegetarian protein like beans.

i'm with ally s. on the turkey cutlets. i recently read an article about how they're a great substitute for veal cutlets because they're so thin and delicate. you can saute them with fresh herbs and white wine, or lightly coat them in flour and fry them.

also, for pork, i posted an awesome braised pork with shiitake mushrooms recipe in a thread smash started about slow cookers. you can just cook it in a big pot on your stove. it's so freaking delicious. i also sometimes do breaded pork cutlets with a dip in flour, then egg, then seasoned panko--they're these great light as air japanese breadcrumbs. then you can finish the cutlets off in the oven.

also, pork is great just sliced thin and in stir fries with other veggies. mark bittman has a bit on stir fries in today's NY times. i think if you look around and read some food sections in different papers you'll get some great ideas.

I hate eating really fatty or gristley meat so I too eat alot of chicken. Have you thought of marinating it in different sauces? It can really make a difference that just plain boring chicken. Teriyaki, cajun, greek? Also grilling chicken with sweet chili sauce (most grocery stores have it in the Asian specialty foods section) is amazing!

I also really like beef tenderloin (but it can be $$$), pork tenderloin, tuna steak grilled rare, salmon. Any of these are really good marinated in different sauces, too.

Ummm I'm suddenly so hungry.

That can be really fatty - they grind up everything in there - including the skin. The white meat is so low in flavor to go with the fact that its low in fat.
